Such a festival only comes around once a year, and to Iowa? Almost never! The Des Moines Coffee and Donut festival is a mixture of two things I absolutely love: coffee and donuts. While I tend to enjoy the coffee with abandon, the donuts are a special treat – and usually best reserved for the times when the donuts truly shine in creativity and deliciousness. Some of the donut vendors I talked to said they brought upwards of 50 dozen donuts to the event. That’s over 600 donuts!
While I was attending this food-centric event as a ticketholder, it didn’t stop me from taking my DSLR. To be honest, unless an event says cameras aren’t allowed or I plan to be extremely hands-on, my camera tends to come with me for my enjoyment. In addition to being a great and higher-quality way to capture my friend and I’s journey during the event, it can provide some amazing memories years in the future when I flip through the photos of the event. And, to be honest, it’s always great to keep in practice, too!
