Once in awhile, I get the chance to submit some of my work to various competitions. Not only does this give me a chance to meet some of the other local artists and photographers in the area, but it really allows me a good “excuse” to sort through my collection and figure out what some of my favorite shots are. On some occasions, I had forgotten that I’d taken some of the shots at all!
This past month was one of those times where I had the chance to enter some of my work into a competition. The Denver, IA library was having an art show, and I took the time to mount and frame two of my favorite aviary photos for entrance into the show. It was great to be able to see everyone’s work and to have my work displayed for the full week leading up to the artist’s appreciation evening.
I was ecstatic to find that one of my entries, “Summertime Swan-ness” won 2nd place at the Dr. E.H. Stumme art show over at the Denver, IA library.
I’m excited to add another award to my display. I’m looking forward to taking some good photos to enter in next year’s competition.
