Photography, much like other skills, requires regular practice. While I don’t always get my professional camera out every day, I’ve found that I can practice in other ways that are more practical for me. In my life, that happens to be with my cell phone camera. While it won’t be helping me produce any photographs that I can use for a giant canvas print, it does help me capture my day-to-day moments without the risk of accidentally harming my professional camera.
Over the past year, I’ve challenged myself to take a single photograph every day. It doesn’t always have to be award-winning; it just has to be a photograph of some aspect of my day that particular day. Not only have I stuck with this project for the last year, but I didn’t miss a single day. I have a ton of gorgeous photos, and I have a lot more pictures of my friends and family than I would normally have because I took the time to meet my goal every day.
While I plan on continuing this fun project for the next year as well, I thought I’d share some of my favorite photos from the last year.
If you haven’t considered doing something similar, you may want to give it a thought. Even if your goal isn’t to improve your photography skills, you’ll still end up with a bunch of photos you wouldn’t have otherwise have taken. It’s a great way to capture your family as they grow up (aside from your regular professional photos, of course)!
